(OVERLAND PARK, KS) – Genesis Health Clubs has purchased Midtown Athletic Club in Overland Park, KS. Currently Genesis owns/operates clubs in Wichita, Hutchinson, Salina, Emporia, Lawrence, Leavenworth, McPherson, Topeka and Manhattan, Kansas and clubs in St. Joseph and Springfield, Missouri. They have an extensive background in tennis, as six of their locations also house large tennis facilities. With 29 years of experience and great expertise in the health and fitness industry, they are looking forward to bringing their passion for health and fitness and excellence in customer service to Overland Park.
As of today at 4:00pm, Midtown Athletic Club members are now Genesis Health Club members and will have access to all Genesis locations across Kansas and Missouri. Membership benefits, the tennis programming, group fitness schedule and rates will not be changing, but the look and feel of the club will be.
“The whole club will undergo a major remodel as drawings are progressing now. The remodel will include an expanded entrance, new locker rooms, updated pool area, expanded fitness area and also upgrades to the tennis viewing area,” said Rodney Steven II, president and owner of Genesis Health Clubs.
Genesis Health Clubs has grown from thirteen locations to twenty one in just under a year. Every city in the state of Kansas with a population of over 30,000 now houses a Genesis Health Club.
“We have had a year of tremendous growth in our company this year,” said Steven, “Several of these markets we have wanted to move into for years, and acquisition opportunities all just fell into place over these last twelve months. I’ve always wanted to have presence in the Kansas City area and the Midtown club is the perfect fit for us. The facility houses nine tennis courts, an indoor lap pool, a beautiful fitness floor and two group fitness studios.”
The deal with Midtown Athletic Club in Overland Park marks not only the final large Kansas region to house a Genesis, but also the venture into a much larger market for the company. When asked what is next for Genesis, Steven replied, “With the amount of growth that we have done this past year, I don’t foresee any more new clubs in 2015. But if the opportunity presents itself, I definitely think that we are capable of even more growth. I have a great team right now and I’d love to grow Genesis into some new markets outside of Kansas. Now that we are in every major city in the state and twenty-one clubs strong…. We have new goals to set as a company and the sky’s the limit!”
